It comes as no surprise that DUFFHUES—the rocking singer-songwriter known for his atypical, dark, narrative-driven songs—also writes short stories in Dutch (his mother tongue). He is above all a storyteller who conveys narratives through various mediums, including songs, literary texts, and video art.
In 2022 he released his debut story collection, and now follows his second titled: Verhalen Ballade (translation: Stories Ballads). This collection features stories about some of his songs, music, the musician life, and other reflections. With the book comes a music album containing the songs that appear in the stories.
Some of the album’s tracks have been released previously but were re-recorded specifically for this project. There are also several entirely new songs, including DUFFHUES’ very first song in Dutch (Ik werd vanmorgen wakker). The album will be available digitally and on cassette.
